Admission Procedures
- Please report to the test center at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled exam time.
- Upon check-in, you are required to show a valid government-issued photo identification document with a signature (such as a driver’s license or passport). All forms of identification must be original. The name on your identification must match the name on your ATT Letter. You will not be admitted to the test site without the required documentation or ATT Letter.
- If you lose the ATT Letter you may request a new one by logging onto your account.
- The total testing time is four hours. Additional time has been allowed for instructions, so the examination may not begin exactly at your scheduled test time. You should expect to be at the test center approximately 4 ½ hours. There are no scheduled breaks.
Candidates without an admission ticket, photo ID, or who arrive late to the test site will not be permitted
Examination Procedures
- No reference material, books, papers, or calculators are allowed in the examination room. You will be provided with paper & pencil at your work station on which you can write notes to yourself during the test. These will be collected at the end of the examination.

- No questions concerning the content of the examination may be asked during the testing period. Read the instructions thoroughly.

Be specific when commenting on a question; the Examination Committee will individually review each comment. Individual responses to your question comments will not be provided. You may also submit comments on exam questions until November 14, 2008. A form will be available on the HTCC website for this purpose.
- You may not communicate with other candidates during the examination. Proctors are authorized to maintain secure and proper test administration procedures, including relocation of candidates.

Before the Test
To become familiar with computer based testing, take a “test drive.” Prometric's Test Drive provides candidates with a real world practice run before the date of the scheduled test. - Get at least eight hours sleep each night during the week leading up to the test.
- Eat a nutritious breakfast the morning of your test.
- If you are particularly sensitive to the effects of caffeine, monitor your consumption.
- Arrive to the test center 30 minutes early to allow yourself to check in and relax before taking the exam.
- Bring the necessary paperwork with you to the test, such as your photo ID and ATT Letter.
- Complete a few warm-up questions the morning of the test, allowing yourself to get into the test-taking mode.
- Wear comfortable layered clothing as test center temperatures may vary.
During the Test
- Read the directions carefully, making certain that you understand exactly what is expected.
- Read each question carefully and note key words and phrases so you only have to read the question once.
- When answering multiple-choice questions, it is recommended to first pause and try to predict the correct answer before looking at the answer options.
- Do not over analyze the question or read into the question what is not there
- If you are still unsure about the correct answer, reread the question and try to eliminate one or two choices that are clearly wrong so you can make an educated guess.
- Make educated guesses at correct answers rather than leaving the answer blank. The score on the entire test will be based only on the number or correct responses, with no penalty imposed for wrong answers.
- Do not waste time on questions containing unfamiliar or difficult material. You can come back to them if time permits.
- Budget your time, allowing yourself enough time to answer all 200 questions in 4 hours.
- Pace yourself and work carefully; do not allow yourself to become stuck on any one question.
- Use all of the allotted test time if you need to. There are no bonus points for finishing before the time limit expires.
- If you have time left over, think carefully before changing answers – your initial response is often the correct one.
